The assessment itself will be split into the following sections:
Vocabulary - this section contains multiple choice questions based on the tier 2 vocabulary that students have covered in all three units.
Punctuation - students will be given a short section of text based on one of the areas they have covered, there will be five errors that they need to correct.
Reading and Comprehension - students will be asked to read an extract or a poem. They will then be asked to write a thesis statement, construct topic sentences, support their ideas with quotations and begin to analyse the quotations they have selected.
Knowledge - Students will be tested on the knowledge that they have accumulated across the three units. (All knowledge can be found on the knowledge organisers provided.)
Writing - Students will be asked to write a short piece of either fictional or transactional writing. They will be tested on their ability to use the conventions of the form they have been given, embed the creative sentence types they have learnt and punctuate their work accurately.
