Students will have been exploring 'The Elements of Music’ . 

In preparation for GCSE Music, students will thoroughly re-explore core musical elements—such as pitch, dynamics, tempo, and texture—while delving into essential key terms to build a strong analytical vocabulary. The evaluation will be split into two comprehensive components:

• Practical Assessment: Students will apply their understanding through a live performance or composition task, demonstrating their technical control, musicality, and creative decision-making, either as soloists or in small ensembles.

• Written Assessment: Following the practical task, students will complete a written evaluation focused on listening and appraising. This will test their ability to identify musical elements in context, accurately apply key terminology, and critically reflect on their own practical work.

Please note that playing a musical instrument—whether through private tuition or self-teaching—is fundamental to a student's success when choosing GCSE Music in Year 10.
